Lands of Equinox

The lands of endless conflicts and strifesโ€”from the very beings that created this world, to the ones who resided within it.

About

The second major world, created in attempts to bring Illustro-Nathereth together, only for it to be used as a battleground between the two gods that led to their own demises and the world's chaos.

The World Itself

There's a large mainland where you consider it as a central object of a map, then away from it, it's surrounded by even more islands, some may be bigger or smaller than this mainland. Then more islands. The seas seem to be endless.

But despite what appears to be the endlessly expanding skies and waters, the world was divided into twoโ€”the lands that fall under Illustro's influence, and the lands that fall under Nathereth's influence.

At the highest points in the sky and the lowest points in the abyss, they're filled with vast voids where the stars stay at.

The Magic

Magic in this world all originated from the two essences: the Sunlight Essence (influenced by Illustro and all gods replacing their role) and the Moonlight Essence (influenced by Nathereth and all gods replacing their role).

Since the Lands of Equinox include several lands far away from the other, mortals have developed different systems to study and to utilize the magic.

Life and Death

When a mortal is born into the Land of Equinox, depending on environmental factors, they're born with either the Sunlight Essence or the Moonlight Essence. Rarely, there are also cases where a mortal isn't born with any essences, or somehow ends up with both essences.

It's also possible for a mortal to replenish their essence later on in their life, too.

When a mortal dies, the essences in their body would generally return in the form of stars drifting in the void (unless the mortal dies under special circumstances). It's not uncommon to see mortals believing that they're born from the stars, the skies, or the abyss for this very reason.

Whether a mortal will head to the void in the skies or the void in the abyss, it depends on how the deities in each seas manage them. If no management is involved, the stars will more likely to stay at where they died as ghosts/spirits.

The Clashing Essences

If a mortal's body mainly contains the Sunlight Essence, and they decide to inject themself with Moonlight Essenceโ€”it'll produce a destructive effects on the mortal's body, and the same effect applies to the person Moonlight Essence trying to inject Sunlight Essence.

Mixing the two essences on their own would be like trying to mix bleach with vinegarโ€”to put it bluntly, mixing the two together is deadly. But of course, there are mortals who seek to utilize the potentially dangerous power from mixing the two magics together.

Even if the mortals are often advised against obtaining the other magic essence, the most dedicated ones will find a way to utilize magics from both essences.

The Gods' Effects on Magic

At first, when Illustro-Nathereth's rivalry was still budding, each gods gave their own mortals a part of their own powers to outpower each other. Whether it's to improve their own livelihood so they may live comfortably, to destroy the other god's mortals, and so on.

With the gods' instability, the magic's effects may shift depending on the gods' state too. Rituals of mortals appeasing their gods are quite common in lands where gods are sighted.
